1. South Sound Regional Envirothon
Thurston Conservation District will host the annual South Puget Sound Regional Envirothon
competition on May 5, 2011 at the Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge in
Nisqually Washington. High school students from Grays Harbor, Kitsap, Lewis, Mason,
Pierce and Thurston Counties will participate in this event geared toward challenging
students in various areas of natural resources: aquatics, forestry, soils, wildlife
and this year’s current environmental issue; Fresh and Saltwater Estuaries. Winners
of the regional level competition will move on to the Washington State Envirothon,
held in late May.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:
Thursday, May 5 – assist with general event management and site judging. For
