The City of Seattle, Department of Planning and Development, is pleased to announce an opening for a Strategic Advisor 2, within the Department’s City Planning Division. This position will supervise City Planning’s area planning work program.
This position is part of DPD’s City Planning Division, which is responsible for maintaining the City’s Comprehensive Plan and leading the development of strategic planning policy in land use, urban design, and the environment. Work is conducted in open processes with extensive public participation. Applicants should have demonstrated experience convening and leading community engagement, particularly among diverse and underrepresented communities, and independently presenting complex and often controversial planning recommendations to management, elected officials, public interest groups, and community organizations. The position will report to the Deputy Planning Director.
Primary Responsibilities This position will supervise a team of 7 – 10 professional planners focused on a wide range of area planning activities implementing the City’s Comprehensive Plan and addressing the opportunities and challenges facing Seattle’s neighborhoods.
