ADULT EDUCATION PROGRAMS MANAGER

The Audubon Society of Portland, a leading voice in conservation and environmental education for over a century, is recruiting for a full time Adult Education Programs Manager. Founded by conservationists, Portland Audubon and its members have been instrumental in developing the environmental policies that shape our region today.
Audubon Society of Portland’s nature campus is located in a 150-acre wildlife sanctuary, just minutes from downtown Portland.
The Audubon Society of Portland’s Education Department provides a broad mix of free and fee based programs for youth and adults. With a ~$900,000 budget, the Department directly reaches 15,000 youth each year and 5000 adults. This position reports to the Education Director and is expected to work occasional evenings, weekends and be out of town for extended periods of time. This position requires at least a Bachelor’s Degree in environmental science, natural history or related field and five years of field experience.
The Adult Education Programs Manager is an integral team member of the Education Department, and provides coordination for the majority of Portland Audubon’s education programs for adults. This includes, but is not limited to: adult classes, field trips, guest speakers, Swift Watch, Road Scholar trips etc. The Adult Education Programs Manager is also expected to teach a number of classes each year, as well as design, develop and lead several educational tours, both domestic and international. In addition, there is a significant office/administrative component to this position, as it provides a host of program-related services to Portland Audubon’s 14,000+ members.
The new Adult Education Program Manager is expected to serve diverse audiences and help advance Portland Audubon’s unified diversity strategy.
