Located in stunning Northwest Washington, the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest (MBS) places a high value on its relationships with our public and visitors/users, other government agencies, Tribal governments, partners, and local communities. The MBS is looking for an individual with strong ecology and botany skills to support a diverse program of work. The forest would like someone who can help with landscape level analysis to support our vegetation management program as well as prepare the forest for forest plan revision. In addition, the position would manage the MBS botany and invasive plant program. Botanical skills would be a definite plus.
Major duties would include serving as the Program Manager and Staff Specialist for the Ecology and Botanical program areas with responsibility for leadership, coordination, planning, and implementation of these areas. These responsibilities include providing expert advice to Interdisciplinary Team members, Forest Supervisor, Resource Staff Officers, and District Rangers; serving as liaison between the Forest and the Regional Office; formulating and recommending local policy; representing the Forest at meetings and workshops; developing program budgets for out-year planning; serving as internal and external Forest contact for ecology and botany activities; and developing and implementing in-service training for Forest personnel.
