JOB OVERVIEW:

The Communications Specialist supports Cascade Bicycle Club’s communications, marketing, outreach and development work. He/she is a go-getter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, surrounded by colleagues who are passionate about Cascade’s mission.

The Communications Specialist uses his/her strong proofreading and writing skills to edit and produce marketing and ad copy, educational materials and member and constituent communications.

The Communications Specialist serves as a project manager and works collaboratively with the graphic designer to complete projects from start to finish.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Solicit, edit and contribute content for website, blog and print materials.

  • Provide writing, proofreading and editing support for print and electronic communications to ensure accuracy, consistency and quality. Knowledge of AP Style helpful.
  • Manage creative and communication projects in collaboration with the Graphic Designer and/or other departments.
  • Ensure clear and consitent branding and communication across all media
  • Maintain up-to-date websites using a content management system and HTML code.
  • Manage social media.
  • Monitor and track media and media analytics to identify and share trends and coverage of interest.
  • Edit and manage our e-blasts and e-appeals
  • Support the Communications Director in creating and implementing marketing strategies for our many events.
  • Manage ad sales for our print publication.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA/BS in English, journalism, communications, marketing or related subject.
  • Two years of relevant experience in communications. Event support experience helpful.
  • Project management experience.
  • Familiarity with nonprofit structure helpful.
  • Solid knowledge of HTML, CSS and experience with website updating. Experience with Drupal and MailChimp a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently with direction. Must be able to follow through on assignments and meet deadlines, have attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Clear communication style, strong interpersonal skills, excellent proofreading/editing skills.
  • Proficiency with technology required, including MS Office, Adobe and website content management software.
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends as event and project deadlines dictate.

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:

The Communications Department leads Cascade Bicycle Club’s communications, marketing and media efforts. It produced all print and online materials for external and internal communication. The Communications Department works collaboratively with all departments to ensure clear, consistent branding and communication.
