Natural Resources Scientist

Vancouver or Seattle WA

Normandeau Associates, Inc., one of the nation’s largest science-based consulting firms, is seeking a Natural Resources Scientist to support our Pacific Northwest operations. The position will be located in either our Vancouver and/or Seattle, Washington office. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas: wetland delineations/assessments; evaluating project impacts to natural resources; preparing NEPA/SEPA and Endangered Species Act (ESA) compliance documents and Clean Water Act (CWA) Section 404/401 permit applications; and/or preparing WSDOT or ODOT biological assessments. Good writing skills are essential. Strong working knowledge of Northwest flora/fauna and experience with wide range of species and habitats, and conducting TES surveys preferred, and experience using GIS/CADD or other graphics programs an advantage.

Responsibilities include: working under the direction of senior staff to inventory, delineate, and assess wetlands; provide field and office support for wildlife and fisheries habitat and impact analysis. Experience with federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines is highly desirable. Other duties (depending on experience), may include: participation in technical meetings and presentations with clients, regulatory agencies and stakeholders, assisting clients with agency negotiations, and contributing to proposal preparation and other business development efforts.

Qualified candidates should have a Bachelor’s Degree in biology, natural resources, landscape architecture, environmental science or related field with a minimum of 3 years of experience in a consulting or public agency environment. Candidates must be able to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
