GIT ANALYST/PROGRAMMER – UNM EARTH DATA ANALYSIS CENTER

Position Summary:
The University of New Mexico’s Earth Data Analysis Center is currently seeking a qualified individual to join our team in the role of GIT Analyst/Programmer. The selected candidate will be part of a Geographic Information Technology (GIT) team that works on a diverse set of geographic information system (GIS), web and desktop programming activities in service of a wide variety of users. This work will include geospatial data acquisition, processing, mapping, analysis, and programming. We primarily work with ESRI products in the development of specific client driven solutions.
The GIT Analyst/Programmer is responsible for completing assigned tasks under the supervision of the GIT Program Manager. This position will assists in the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of GIS systems, software, and data integration solutions to administrative, scientific and technical problems. This work will include understanding and interpreting geospatial applications. Assist in the design, development and implementation of geospatial applications and products to fulfill customer requirements.
We are looking for Web and geospatial programming/developer skills and someone that has the intellectual curiosity to continuously contribute to the identification and development of geospatial technologies and approaches that we constantly work with in meeting our client’s diverse needs.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with 3 to 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Uses ESRI’s ArcGIS software, extensions and applications
- Designs and develops geodatabases, and routinely uses relational database software.
- Gathers, develops and/or maintains geospatial data and links between various databases.
- Creates new programs or edits existing programs in order to produce maps and automate procedures.
- Maintains databases for GIS-related metadata.
- Writes project reports and documentation, as necessary.
- Participates, as needed, in meetings with EDACs IT Developers, GIT Analyst/Programmers, and clients to fully understand expected project outcomes.
- Develops and modifies simple applications and scripts using ArcObjects, Python, VBScript, JavaScript and Model Builder.
- Works cooperatively with managers to complete assigned work.
- Proactively seeks input and clarification from other employees’ assigned to given projects in order to minimize time spent in performing the essential duties of the position.
- Develop, deploy, and maintain GIS applications built with ArcGIS extensions and ArcServer.
- Develop mash-ups with other mapping technologies such as Google Maps and Bing.
- Develop functional application descriptions, program applications, creates application user documentation, and maintain web applications and software releases.
- Develop and maintain client web applications and services with ESRI ArcGIS API’s, ASP.NET, Java, HTML, web scripting or SQL programming.
- Assist in tuning servers running ArcGIS and databases.
- Assist in the management of client data in SQL Server SDE environment.
