Spring and Summer Positions available!   If you have a love for the ocean and a passion for youth, this opportunity is for you! Teach marine science to students in grades 4-12 on Catalina Island, an ecological gem off the coast of California.

88% of Catalina’s 75 square miles are protected against development. In this setting we conduct hands on learning at its best, using our fine indoor laboratories and our beautiful outdoor coastal learning areas. Our program is mentally and physically challenging, and we expect much of our instructors. They teach snorkeling, marine labs, kayaking, hiking and various evening programs. Piloting small vessels is part of their duties.

Compensation: Paid training, full room and board, $55.00 dollars per day (starting salary for BS and BA degree, regularly increased), health benefits after 6 months service, and vacation benefits. Program equipment such as kayaks and skiffs are available for staff during their time off after the appropriate training.

Qualifications: Minimum BS or BA degree in Biology or related Science; Excellent water skills; Current certification in Lifeguard Training, First Aid and CPR a plus, but we will train at no cost to you; Teaching experience with youth highly desired; Flexibility and ability to work with others as a team and live in a rural setting essential.
