CAMPAIGN MANAGER
BARK, Portland, Oregon
Closes: Open Until Filled

Salary range $36,000-$45,000, commensurate with experience.

Bark is the resource for community action to protect Mt. Hood National Forest and surrounding federal lands. We prioritize grassroots organizing and believe in the power of an engaged public. We recognize that the forest should thrive not just to provide resources for the human community, but also for the inherent value of nature itself. We maintain an organizational culture that is transparent, inclusive and cooperative, where volunteers, staff and board work together to realize the vision of Bark.

The Campaign Manager is responsible for developing and implementing Bark’s Urban National Forest Initiative. Bark recently developed this program to bring together communities adjacent to Forest Service-designated “Urban National Forests.” The goal is to help the Forest Service fund and implement initiatives to restore clean water, wildlife habitat, improve quiet recreation access—all critical contributions of forests near cities, yet currently underfunded in lieu of growing expenditures on resource extraction.

The City of Portland is the city that gives Mt. Hood its “Urban National Forest” designation. The Campaign Manager will garner support from other metro-area governments (city/county/Metro), but the focus will be to establish the City of Portland as the champion for an Urban National Forest Initiative. To do this, the Campaign Manager will establish a Portland-metro area coalition of individuals, organizations, and businesses in support of an Urban National Forest Initiative for Mt. Hood National Forest.
