Voluntary Cleanup Unit Site Manager
Accidental spills of dangerous materials and past business practices have contaminated land and water throughout the state. The Toxics Cleanup Program (TCP) works to remedy these situations, which range from cleaning up contamination from leaking underground storage tanks, to large, complex projects requiring engineering solutions. Our mission is to get and keep contaminants out of the environment.
The Toxics Cleanup Program in the Northwest Regional Office in Bellevue, WA is currently looking to fill an Environmental Specialist 4 In-Training position. This position acts as a site manager providing regulatory oversight to ensure that cleanup actions comply with the mission of the Department, Program, the MTCA and other applicable environmental laws, regulations and policies. Once the In-Training plan is complete, this position will independently perform professional senior-level work under general supervision for cleanup of VCP sites located within the Northwest Region. The program manager has identified this work as a priority for the program for the protection of soil, groundwater, surface water and air quality at these sites, for meeting our agency Government Management Accountability Performance (GMAP) goals. If a person is hired in at the Environment Specialist 4 level they will independently perform professional senior-level work under general supervision and will be responsible for the following key activities:

Required Qualifications At the ES4 Level: (55 Salary Range $3819 – $5010) A Bachelor’s degree involving major study in environmental, physical, or one of the natural sciences, environmental planning, or other allied field AND five years of professional-level experience in environmental analysis, or control, or environmental planning which includes one year equal to an Environmental Specialist 3 or above. OR A Master’s degree in one of the above fields AND three years of professional-level experience as required above which includes one year equal to an Environmental Specialist 3 or above. OR A Ph.D. in one of the above fields AND two years of professional-level experience as required above which includes one year equal to an Environmental Specialist 3 or above. At the ES3 Level: (49 Salary Range $3293 – $4322) A Bachelor’s degree involving major study in environmental, physical, or one of the natural sciences, environmental planning, or other allied field AND two years of professional-level experience in analysis, or control, or environmental planning which includes one year equal to an Environmental Specialist 2 or above. OR A Master’s degree in one of the above fields AND one year of professional-level experience as required above which includes one year equal to an Environmental Specialist 2 or above. OR A Ph.D. in one of the above fields. Special Requirements/Conditions of Employment Initial 40-hour hazardous materials training and annual 8-hour refresher training. A valid driver’s license.
