Bridgewater College seeks a full-time Coordinator for Student Programming beginning July 1, 2015. The focus of this position is to provide students with engagement opportunities through Orientation, leadership development, clubs and organizations and outdoor programs.
Responsibilities
- Primary coordinator for the selection and training of Orientation Leaders, Orientation Leader Assistants, and Orientation Team Leaders.
- Collaboratively work to develop schedules and evaluation process of both Orientation and Welcome Week with other departments on campus.
- Develop and implement a range of leadership programs from a simple introduction to leadership skills and theories, to more complex programs aimed at current student leaders.
- Oversee campus clubs and organizations from their development to training new leaders and advisors to the yearly registration process.
- Implement a co-curricular transcript.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive outdoor program which will conduct an outdoor program open to students on a weekly basis.
- Coordinate alternative break trips.
- Provide educational programming that teaches eco-friendly and safety conscious instruction while also maintaining the Outdoor Center.
- Participate in the on-call rotation for weekend coverage of the Kline Campus Center
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Outdoor Recreation or related field required.
- Prior experience in higher education, with progressive responsibility.
- Demonstrated ability performing technical skills and instructing activities associated with several outdoor recreation activities such as rock climbing, kayaking, skiing/snowboarding; wilderness first aid; experiential education and team building.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate outdoor recreation and instructional classes, workshops, clinics, and special events, including team building and participant debriefing of outdoor excursions.
- Wilderness First Aid Responder certified; and current CPR and AED certifications (instructor preferred).
- Flexibility for nights and weekends required
- Valid Driver’s License with good driving record required.

The College is a member of NCAA Division III and the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, with 22 intercollegiate athletic teams.
