Greetings Homebuilders and Electric Vehicle Stakeholders,
I hope you will join us for an important conversation on sustainability in residential developments:
Friday June 19th , 8:00 am – 1:00 pm
Plugging into the Future
The Challenge and Opportunity of Residential Electric Vehicle Infrastructure
At The Star Center, 3873 S 66th St, Tacoma
With opening keynote by Washington State Representatives Dick Muri (R) and Jake Fey (D)
Reps. Muri and Fey are both members of the Washington House of Representatives’ Electric Vehicle (EV) Caucus, who believe the use of electric vehicles can strengthen Washington’s economy. One key challenge is how to get more EV charging infrastructure into single- and multi-family residential developments – both new construction and redevelopment.
There will also be a panel of local and regional stakeholders and experts regarding Community and Multi-family Residential Development, Finance, Charging Infrastructure, and Climate Change Solutions.

Tacoma and Pierce County enjoy a uniquely favorable environment for EV adoption and use: Ideally located on the electrified I-5 corridor from B.C. to northern California, and drawing upon emissions-free, regional hydropower, Pierce County can expect a continuing growth in privately-owned electric vehicles. Yet more EV adoption will place new demands on homebuilders being asked to provide home-based charging infrastructure.
We have the opportunity to capitalize on EV infrastructure for multiple benefits, if we prepare for the transition. Symposium participants will join in a lively, generative conversation to explore the best ways to:
- Prepare for growth in Electric Vehicles
- Provide the charging infrastructure needed for single- and multi-family neighborhoods, effectively and efficiently
We will share information and strategize about:
- Current and future technology
- Policies and Incentives
- Economic Costs and Benefits
Our unique format is designed to deepen our collective understanding, and to identify areas of agreement with high potential for collaborative action.
