Salary: $43,708.00 – $55,949.00 Annually
This is a 1500 hour/year grant funded benefit eligible position. This position requires flexible scheduling.
Responsible for leading, motivating, mentoring, educating, and inspiring at-risk and disadvantaged youth, generally ages 16-21, in the successful completion of conservation, natural resources, and parks maintenance projects for program partner Metro. Projects may include non-native invasive plant removal; trail building, maintenance, and deconstruction; park maintenance; minor construction projects; native plant seed harvesting, sowing, and propagation; planting native trees and shrubs; fence removal; etc. In addition, YEC Crew Leader will create and facilitate workforce development activities and trainings for the youth, and will guide the crew on citizen science projects and mentoring projects where the crew members lead and teach younger children. Position requires ability to manage and relate to underserved, “at-risk” youth; an understanding of conservation work; the ability to teach youth transferable work-place skills; and frequent contact and collaboration with Metro and YESS staff.
