We are seeking a part-time Research and Evaluation Assistant (10-20 hrs/wk) to join our team. The Research and Evaluation Assistant will possess passion, knowledge and skill to support the Evaluation Project Manager with the implementation of our research and evaluation projects.

Research & Evaluation (R&E) Intern/Assistant responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of R&E protocols
  • Assist in the development of R&E materials (e.g., program maps, evaluation plans, surveys)
  • Assist with scheduling and data collection
  • Assist with data entry and data management
  • Summarize data analysis findings
  • Support multiple projects requiring data collection, analysis, and slide presentations
    • Assist with R&E report writing and proofreading
    • Conduct literature reviews
    • Maintenance of accurate files and records, both digital and hard copy
    • Performance of any other duties associated with research and evaluation studies as needed
  • Partner with team members to develop reporting, analyses and visualization that effectively inform decision making and actions that improve client decision making and action
  • Wrangle data from many places to create integrated views that can be used to drive decision making
  • Work with multiple data sources
  • Design and build reports and analyses in Excel and Tableau

Skills and experience profile

A successful data2insight research and evaluation assistant will possess the following qualities:

  • Strong team player, able to work with team mates to prioritize workloads effectively
  • Detail-oriented, meticulous, AND able to meet deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and relationship skills
  • Good at problem solving on the fly
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • 2 years of quantitative & qualitative research experience in one of the following fields: education, psychology, public health, or informatics (graduate level training preferred)
  • Excellent data collection and management skills
  • Strong reporting and data visualization skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Word and Excel knowledge and skill
  • PowerPoint and Access knowledge and skill
  • Experience with R (and SPSS)
  • Windows and Mac OSX platform knowledge and skill
  • Google Apps (especially Google calendar) and Smartsheet knowledge and skill

Compensation and benefits

This is an hourly part-time (10-20 hours/week) position reporting to evaluation project manager, Christy Ballweber. The hourly rate is $20/hour, paid monthly.

Work Environment: Work is conducted remotely or in a co-working office environment (1617 Boylston Avenue, Seattle, WA) with minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues. There are dogs on the premises.

Physical demands: Use of a computer to access information; Sitting for extended periods of time; Occasional standing, walking, lifting needed to carry out everyday activities. Commute time will vary depending on employee’s home location.
