The Environmental Specialist position is a lead worker, project manager, and upper-level specialist position in the area of environmental resource science. Employees in this position use analytic skills and professional judgment to independently evaluate and/or select environmental or natural resource science techniques, procedures and criteria; analyze data; design sampling and monitoring plans; and write regulatory reports. Some positions function as an expert on issues related to developing and implementing programs, plans and policies to comply with City, State and Federal regulations.
This recruitment will be used to generate a list of qualified candidates to fill current and future vacancies in the City. Current vacancies exist in the Bureau of Environmental Services and the Water Bureau. Position Description: The Industrial Stormwater Program administers NPDES Industrial Stormwater General Permits and implements local code regarding discharges to the City’s storm sewer system. This position will serve as a lead to ensure the program is implemented in a manner consistent with policy and procedures. Vacancy 4: Water Bureau, Resource Protection and Planning, Water Resource Modeling Work tasks of the Water Bureau position will include model calibration, creation of task-specific data sets for model input, scripting and coding for model runs, data analysis and data display, and preparing technical memoranda and presentations to summarize and interpret model results.
