This is an entry-level professional classification located in the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department and is under the direction of an immediate supervisor.
Some of what you’ll do:
- Monitor, regulate, and provide oversight for the management and operation of public drinking water systems in Pierce County: including 1,400 Group B water systems and 400 Group A water systems.
- Enforce state and local drinking water regulations for water systems to ensure compliance.
- Conduct field visits of drinking water systems to address complaints and water quality concerns, as well as provide technical guidance to drinking water system managers.
- Review permit applications to ensure drinking water system adequacy.
- Provide education and outreach to drinking water system managers, the public and other groups: including workshops, newsletters and public events. Some after hour workshops or meetings may be required.
- Determine, evaluate, and assess public drinking water systems for water quality, quantity and compliance with state and local regulations.
- Respond to inquiries, complaints, and possible water borne illnesses.
- Explain drinking water regulatory requirements to consultants, engineers, other state and local agencies, land use professionals and the general public.
- Work on a daily basis with the drinking water system industry and coordinate with internal Health Department programs.
- Knowledge of drinking water systems and well construction would be beneficial
