Purpose Statement/s: The job of “Environmental Educator” is hired for the purpose of providing high quality conservation education programs to students throughout Eastern Washington. Through this work, students will gain a better understanding of the science behind complex environmental issues and will become better able to address these issues responsibly. Position runs full-time from August 29, 2016 through May 31, 2017. Pay rate is $15.00/hr with no benefits.
Essential Job Functions:
– Deliver high-quality Wheat Week and Water on Wheels lessons in Yakima County schools
– Assist in the further development of the Franklin Conservation District’s (FCD) Education and
Outreach Programs
– Able to perform and prioritize work tasks with little supervision
– Maintain records of lessons students, teachers and lessons taught
Job Requirements:
– Experience working with school-aged students in a formal classroom setting
– Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and Google
products (Google Calendar, Drive, Gmail)
– Possess a high degree of energy and self-motivation
– Flexibility to changing work environments
– Ability to work with FCD team to develop, implement, and refine programs
– Ability to lift up to 35 lbs., or be able to lift with reasonable accommodations
– Submit to a national criminal history background check
Desired Qualifications (not required):
– Teaching Certificate
– Degree in Education, Natural Resource Sciences or related fields
– Demonstrate abilities in written and oral communication
– Experience developing and delivering Environmental Education activities
– Training in Projects WET, WILD and Learning Tree Curriculum
– Knowledge of wildlife, water issues or natural resource issues
