Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies – Environmental Policy

The Department of Environmental Studies at Amherst College invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor in the area of environmental policy.  Given Amherst College’s commitment to cultivating a challenging and inclusive educational environment, we seek candidates who can teach, mentor, and inspire students of different sexual orientations, genders, races, ethnicities, nationalities, religions, and socioeconomic backgrounds. The start date for the position is July 1, 2017.

The successful candidate will teach a core course in environmental policy, courses in his or her area of specialization (environmental policy, environmental law, environmental justice), and occasionally participate in the team-taught introductory and/or senior capstone courses in environmental studies. The successful candidate is expected to establish a high quality research program analyzing national or international environmental policy, as well as mentor honors students. A Ph.D. or comparable terminal degree is required.
