Job Announcement: Project Manager
SUMMARY
Northwest SEED is a nonprofit organization that creates communities powered by locally-controlled
clean energy. We are seeking a highly motivated person to serve as a Project Manager to lead our
Affordable Clean Energy for All program and other Northwest SEED initiatives to expand clean energy
locally, especially to low income and communities of color. The position reports to the Executive
Director and works closely with the Program Director and Policy Manager to develop and implement
solutions that bring together housing providers, environmental justice allies, financial institutions, and
local government and utility leaders, to deliver clean energy in communities across Washington and
Oregon. The Project Manager will manage all aspects of program delivery, from developing new
relationship with allies to tracking budgets and reporting. This is a .75 FTE (30 hours per week), exempt
position based in our downtown Seattle office, with potential to increase to full time, depending on

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Project Manager is responsible for overall management of our Affordable Clean Energy (ACE for All)
initiative including internal and external communications and coordination, budget and resource
management, reporting, and contract compliance. The Project Manager will convene stakeholders to build
consensus for acting on clean energy, evaluate program design options, communicate our vision, and
implement pilot projects.
 Actively manage day-to-day interaction with project stakeholders, including representatives from
disadvantaged communities. Build consensus and lead teams with multiple project stakeholders to
ensure project milestones and deliverables are met.
 Identify and communicate with key decision makers to build financial support and commitment to the
goals of delivering clean energy to low income and communities of color.
 Lead a steering committee to develop affordable solar project concepts, conduct economic feasibility
analysis and provide guidance on the steps for successful project implementation.
 Prepare and present formal project recommendations to partners and decision makers through written
and in-person presentations. Document project activities and submit monthly and/or quarterly reports
to project funders and sponsors.
 Manage and track project work plans, budget, schedule, and revise as appropriate to meet changing
needs and requirements.
 Develop assessment tools to evaluate and report on project effectiveness.
 Maintain positive relationships with project sponsors and build relationships with prospective funders.
 Represent Northwest SEED as a spokesperson and presenter at events and conferences as appropriate.
 Contribute to written communication materials, such as newsletters, web site, fact sheets, news releases,
presentations and reports.
 Hire and supervise part-time interns as needed.
 Support other assigned clean energy projects as needed.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES
The ideal candidate will be experienced in community organizing, consensus building, and management of
community-based projects, and have a passion for equity and clean energy. This position requires some
travel around the Puget Sound region.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
 Bachelor’s degree in related field. Advanced degree or coursework preferred.
 A minimum of three years of professional project management experience.
 Must be highly organized, with demonstrated organizational and leadership skills.
 Self-starter, detail-oriented, enthusiastic, innovative, critical thinker, and capable of meeting challenges
and deadlines.
 Familiarity with finance, public policy, and/or housing development preferred.
 Demonstrated commitment to working with low-income communities.
 Superior written and verbal communication skills.
 Proficiency in MS Office, with a high level of skill using Excel and Adobe software products. Familiarity
with online project management tools, such as Basecamp, a plus.
 Intermediate knowledge of clean energy technologies and their applications.
 Team player with trouble-shooting and exceptional multi-tasking skills.
 Experience working within a non-profit team environment a plus.

BENEFITS AND COMPENSATION
This part-time position is based out of our Seattle office. Position may increase to full-time, contingent on
organizational need and funding. Starting salary ranges from high $30Ks to low $40Ks for .75 FTE, DOE.
