Expressions of interest are invited for an exciting opportunity to join the Aquaculture Program as a Senior Aquatic Plant Specialist.
The Senior Aquatic Plant Specialist is a new position to the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations. The primary responsibilities of the position are the review of, and providing recommendations to a decision maker on, aquatic plant aquaculture and wild harvest applications, and any associated Land Act tenure applications, including consultation with First Nations, and engagement with federal and provincial agencies, local governments and the public. We are looking for someone who is highly organized, self-motivated with excellent communication skills to lead the transition of the licencing of the wild harvest of aquatic plants from the Ministry of Agriculture to the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations.
The appointment will commence as soon as possible after the selection process is complete. The position will be located in Nanaimo, the successful candidate may also work out of the Courtenay office. No relocation expenses will be provided. Flexible work options may be considered, however, the majority of work hours must be spent either in Nanaimo or Courtenay.
