GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Resources Intern will work up to 40 hours per week during Summer 2017 providing ongoing administrative and technical support in the development of AASHE resources, particularly related to AASHE’s new online resource library, the Campus Sustainability Hub (exact hours to be determined based on availability).
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Conducts online research to identify new resources for inclusion in the Campus Sustainability Hub
- Uses basic computer programming code to assist in the management of online resources
- Implements marketing and outreach campaigns to increase submissions to the Campus Sustainability Hub in collaboration with Programs and Marketing staff
- Contributes to ongoing creative development of the Campus Sustainability Hub through participation in regular team meetings
- Assists in building internal and external stakeholder engagement related to AASHE resources
- Develops and maintains familiarity with trends in campus sustainability by following AASHE and campus sustainability news
- Demonstrates a commitment to sustainability and diversity in the workplace
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING REQUIRED:
- Student at a higher education institution in the United States or Canada
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in higher education sustainability
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Strong quantitative research skills
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Strong internet researching skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Collaborative attitude and strong interpersonal communication skills
- Comfortable working with and experimenting with technology
- Experience with working in teams and facilitating groups
- Knowledge of Google Apps and Microsoft Office
- Experience working with diverse populations
- Commitment to advancing sustainability in higher education
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Student at an AASHE member institution
- Experience with data collection for AASHE’s Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS)
