Job description
Perform scientific research, policy supporting work and training activities concerning societal aspects of nuclear technology, in particular:
- carry out research centred on the governance of ionising radiation risks (e.g. perception and communication of radiological risks; social and ethical aspects of radiation protection policy and practice; participatory and deliberative processes);
- colaborate to multidisciplinary research projects on e.g., emergency planning, environmental remediation, radioactive waste management, technology assessment;
- participate to empirical research (design, execution and analysis);
- contribute to networking activities aimed at integration of social sciences and humanities in ionising radiation research;
- write scientific publications.
Required qualifications
- PhD degree or master degree in a relevant field of social sciences;
- knowledge of quantitative and qualitative methods for sociological research (e.g. survey research, media content analysis, focus groups, interviews);
- experience in writing scientific publications or reports;
- experience in collaborating in international projects is a plus;
- good reporting skills, oral as well as written;
- be able to work independently and thematically;
- sense for initiative in your own research and in the support of other researchers;
- team player in a multi-disciplinary environment;
- good knowledge of English, Dutch and French.
