Within Northwest Region this position provides professional resource protection of public resources on all state and private forestlands within the region. The position, guided by agency principles, implements state program statue and department policy for Forest Practice and Resource Protection on all state and private forestland in the region. This position is expected to contribute significantly to the development of program policies and procedures and establishes region procedures to implement and monitor compliance with established statues and policies.

Major decision-making responsibilities brought to this position for action:
· Ensures implementation of resource protection programs is consistent with statute, policies, and procedures.
· Monitors and manages program budget allotments within the region.
· Establishes program priorities in the region.
· Approves non-routine expenditures including overtime for suppression activities.
· SEPA Responsible Official for the Forest Practices Program.
