Description
The Managing Director for the Purdue Center for Global Food Security (CGFS) will be responsible for the overall management of an interdisciplinary research center on Purdue’s West Lafayette Campus. The CGFS focuses on finding technology, policy and organizational solutions for the world’s food security problems and is a key component of the Global Sustainability Initiative in Purdue’s Discovery Park. The managing director will work closely with the CGFS director, advisory groups, and CGFS staff to create an agenda that addresses emerging global needs and mobilizes the resources that will allow CGFS to harness the expertise and creativity of Purdue faculty, staff and students in responding to this global challenge.

Required:
Master’s degree in Agriculture, Agricultural/Global Development or related field.
Five or more years of experience in managing an interdisciplinary research or granting program.
Ability to work across disciplinary and institutional boundaries.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
Organizational development, team-building and strong interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of federal and other funding agencies and the ability to build new relationships with the same. Ability to assess and strategize with center director to develop and implement project vision on an international level.
Skills associated with center marketing, public affairs, and external media communications.
Demonstrated self-starter and leader who al possesses an attitude of service to the center and Purdue University.
Ability to lead efforts in grant proposal development and coordination.
Ability to oversee all program development associated with the center (research, education, outreach, student engagement, etc).
Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders and a variety of audiences including visitors, granting agencies, and state and federal representatives.
Ability to manage internal and external communications specific to center needs.
Ability to interface with academic units for issues of faculty time, post-docs and students involved in credit-bearing activities.
Ability to manage budgets, lead financial planning and budget development efforts.
