Audubon Canyon Ranch (ACR) seeks a Resource Ecologist for our Martin Griffin Preserve. S/he is a member of the ACR stewardship and science team and reports to the Martin Griffin Preserve Resident Biologist. The Resource Ecologist provides leadership in natural resources inventory, monitoring, management, and restoration programs at MGP;  recruits, trains and supervises stewardship volunteers; reports on regular field reconnaissance, including early detection and monitoring of stewardship issues; leads or contributes to the preparation of technical reports and publications; works collaboratively with ACR’s science and stewardship council; and participates in community-based forums regarding land use issues and builds on the potential for collaborations with neighboring land owners and land use agencies. The Resource Ecologist constructs and monitors budgets; may supervise and assist in hiring season staff or interns; and assists in fundraising efforts.

Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree and professional experience or advanced training/degree in conservation biology, natural resource management, resource ecology, or related field.  S/he can work independently and efficiently plan, implement, and manage complex natural resource management projects including preparing budgets and tracking expenses. The candidate should display proficiency at managing invasive species, implementing ecological restoration using best management practices, and successfully engaging, coordinating, and motivating volunteers, partners, and the public.
