The Departments of Geography at San Diego State University (SDSU) and University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB) are seeking applicants for Doctoral degrees in climate modeling and hydrology starting in Fall 2019.

Successful applications will work with Dr. Trent Biggs (hydrology) and/or Dr. Fernando De Sales (climate modeling) and will be involved in an interdisciplinary project on the relationships between deforestation, water resources, and farmer livelihoods in the Amazon Rainforest region.  The positions are sponsored by an NSF-CNH project grant; and include registration fees, tuition, and stipend.

Applicants must possess (or expect to possess by the Fall 2019) a Master’s degree in Geography, Environmental or Earth Science, Environmental Engineering, Atmospheric Sciences, or a related field. Strong skills in oral and written communication are required. Experience in data analysis and basic knowledge of computer programming is preferred.  The positions are open to residents and international students.
