The Sagebrush Collaborative Conservation Specialist position serves to lead the strategic, partner-driven conservation of sagebrush by helping implement the Intermountain West Joint Venture’s (IWJV) Partnering to Conserve Sagebrush Rangelands initiative. In 2016, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the IWJV entered into a formal partnership to improve sagebrush conservation across ownership boundaries. The partnership is modeled after the successful voluntary private land conservation efforts pioneered by the USDA Natural Resources and Conservation Service’s (NRCS) Sage Grouse Initiative (SGI). These partners are working jointly to implement a Memorandum of Understanding for sage grouse and sagebrush habitat conservation. Learn more about this partnership here.

JOIN THE TEAM! The IWJV is seeking a Sagebrush Collaborative Conservation Specialist to support the Partnering to Conserve Sagebrush Rangelands initiative. The Sagebrush Collaborative Conservation Specialist will work closely with an interdisciplinary team of staff members and partners including, but not limited to, IWJV staff (Assistant Coordinator, Operations & Administration Manager, Sagebrush Communications Specialist, Project Coordinator, and Spatial Ecologist); the IWJV Management Board; BLM staff at the Washington Office, State, District and Field Office levels; NRCS State Conservationists, Working Lands for Wildlife, and associated staff; and IWJV state conservation partners. The position is hosted by the Western Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies (WAFWA) through a cooperative staffing agreement between WAFWA and the IWJV and reports directly to the IWJV Assistant Coordinator. The IWJV is one of the leading collaborative conservation organizations in the Intermountain West. We are seeking an individual that can identify opportunities and engage a diverse audience to develop conservation solutions.
