Job Overview
Continuously support the facilities’ Industrial Wastewater and Hazardous Waste systems to ensure safety and regulatory compliance while facilitating production needs.

 

Essential Functions

  • Conduct routine sample testing of various compounds throughout the facility.
  • Work with environmental engineering to analyze, monitor, and complete treatments as necessary to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain operating records for industrial wastewater, industrial storm water, and hazardous waste programs, such as daily, weekly, and monthly reports, per plant and regulatory requirements.
  • Safely conduct pickups and deliveries of hazardous wastes and materials to support production activities.
  • Prepare containers with proper labeling in accordance with plant standards, RCRA, DOT, and WA State Dangerous Waste regulations.
  • Properly accept and receive new material deliveries per plant standards.
  • Prepare hazardous and other waste for shipment to offsite facilities.
  • Provide emergency response at the facility for the containment of spills, clean-ups, or questions raised by the facility for the proper disposal or usage of chemicals.
  • Work effectively and participate in a team environment through the use of lean methodologies, continuous improvement, and the training of others.
  • Complete assignments and/or other duties as determined by both your supervisor and the environmental engineer.
  • Complete initial and refresher trainings to meet requirements of Washington State Dangerous Waste, RCRA, HAZWOPER, and DOT Hazardous Materials Transporter regulations.
  • Maintain equipment in good working condition.
  • Maintain housekeeping to plant standards.

 

Qualifications & Skills

  • At least 2 years of experience desired in hazardous materials handling, hazardous waste management, wastewater treatment, environmental regulations, and/or emergency spill response is required.  Work experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills, prior success contributing to team environments and a positive customer service attitude are a must.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to work overtime, support after-hour emergency response, or weekend hours as needed.
  • Ability to wear/maintain clearance to use Respiratory Protective Equipment.
  • No allergies to PPE or skin irritation problems.
  • Ability to understand and interpret plant facilities drawings.
  • Prior experience using a Forklift is required and the ability to operate additional motorized industrial equipment is desired.  Certification to operate industrial equipment must remain in good standing.
  • Willingness to learn additional skills desired.  (i.e. computer applications, Six Sigma methodologies, etc.)
  • PC experiences preferred include Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
