Responsibilities

This is an interdisciplinary position and may be filled in any of the following series GS-0401, GS-0810, or GS-1315 depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.

Supervisory Civil Engineer (0810) salary range: $99,691-$122,695

Supervisory Natural Resources Specialist (0401), Supervisory Hydrologist (1315) salary range:  $88,704-$115,313

-Serves as the Chief, Water Operations Division, responsible for the operation of the water supply facilities of the Klamath Project (Project) in accordance with flood control regulations, contractual agreements, water rights, and Endangered Species Act requirements.
-Responsible for the identification and evaluation of operating problems requiring analysis or affecting the achievement of Bureau objectives including optimum efficiency and effectiveness. Initiates analysis and studies of reservoir operations, inflow and release measurements and computations, availability of water and other aspects necessary for Project operations.
-Directs intensive utilization of computer programming, systems analysis and operations research techniques in the development and implementation of centralized system data handling, real-time operating strategy models and other modernization efforts within the field of water operations.
-Prepares annual operating budget for the Water Operations Division and in cooperation with other program managers submits activity plans supporting future funding needs.
-Responsible for the oversight and direction of the Fisheries Resources Branch. Ensures that Project operations are consistent with Endangered Species Act and other biological resource requirements.
-Represents KBAO in meetings or correspondence dealing with water resource and operational issues with federal, state and local agencies, irrigation districts, and other agencies and private entities with highly controversial water resources issues related to KBAO’s interests.
-Serves as a first and second level supervisor over a group of professional, technical, and administrative staff.
