Position Summary:

The Oregon Agriculture in the Classroom Foundation (AITC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, organized for the purpose of incorporating the basic concepts of agriculture and natural resources into existing curricula in grades K-12 of public, private and home schools in Oregon. Last year, the program impacted more than 220,000 students in Oregon. The purpose of the position is to work with the Executive Director in the continued development and expansion of the program, specifically in Washington County. We are seeking an educational professional to promote and implement programs, manage resources available to teachers and support educators in their efforts to incorporate agriculture and natural resources into their curriculum.

This full-time position will work in Hillsboro, Oregon at the Tualatin Soil and Water Conservation District offices.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare and present education programs for students and trainings for teachers in Washington County schools
• Manage lending library for Washington County teachers including procurement of items and coordination with library users
• Promote Oregon AITC programs at local level including resources and curriculum, art contests, Get Oregonized and grant-funded projects
• Promote and assist with coordination of annual agricultural literacy project, connecting volunteers with classrooms in Washington County
• Assist Executive Director with grant writing and securing local funds for program work
• Present AITC programs and resources at outreach events within Washington County
• Organize events such as on-farm field days and educator workshops throughout the county
• Promote programs and resources using Oregon AITC website, blog and local media and promotional outlets
• Connect students and teachers with relevant projects occurring at the Tualatin Soil and Water Conservation District for hands-on, real-life research projects

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
• At least 2+ years of experience in education, agriculture or related field
• Excellent knowledge of latest education standards and practices
• High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office; Adobe Creative Suite, a plus
• Proficient in Spanish
• Basic understanding of agriculture
• Experience working directly with partners, leaders, community members and stakeholders from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
• Ability to work independently, without supervision, as well as collaborate on a team and with volunteers
• Proven ability to successfully interact with youth 5-19 years of age
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to present to diverse audiences, specifically racially, ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse communities
• Applicant must possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
