Location: Northeast Washington (Colville)
Northwest Management, Inc. (NMI), a full-service natural resource consulting firm is seeking a senior forester to join our forest management team in Northeast Washington. This position requires technical abilities and knowledge of forest management practices related to harvest unit layout, road layout, logging systems and contract administration for multiple properties. This is a great opportunity for an entrepreneurial individual to join the NMI team to advance their career and expand area operations.
Job Functions and Responsibilities:
- Complete the layout of timber harvest units; determine appropriate logging systems
- Determine access, design and layout forest roads to facilitate timber harvests
- Evaluate and determine road maintenance needs
- Manage contractors and perform contract administration duties
- Ensure compliance with Forestry Practice Act rules and regulations and other land management policies
- Conduct harvest planning and create silvicultural prescriptions
- Manage multiple projects concurrently
- Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a natural resource management or equivalent
- Minimum of seven years of field experience required, ten years of experience preferred
- Demonstrated crew leader experience and working in a team environment
- Ability to effectively communicate with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies and general public.
- Highly motivated individual with the ability to work independently
- Prescribed fire experience preferred but not required
