Position will act on a Biosecurity team to conduct field data collection, and control invasive species and provide interdiction on the islands in support of US Navy Joint Region Marianas, located at Guam.

The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States by proposed start date. CEMML will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.

Required Qualifications:

  • BS or BA degree in Botany, Biology, Ecology, or closely related field.
  • Two years of experience working/managing natural resources with at least one of those years consisting of fieldwork.
  • One year demonstrated experience with Geographic Information Systems (ArcMap or ArcGIS Pro)
  • Experience in GIS building and managing geodatabases and generating project area and results maps for natural resource projects
  • Experience using Global Positioning Systems (GPS), particularly Trimbles
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States by proposed start date. CEMML will not provide sponsorship for this position.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license by the employment start date.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • MS degree in Botany, Biology, Ecology, or closely related field.
  • Two years of experience monitoring/controlling invasive species of plants, arthropods, gastropods, reptiles and amphibians, or small mammals.
  • Degree in Geographic Information Systems, or related field.
  • Familiarity with DoD’s SDSFIE spatial standards (Spatial Data Standards for Facilities, Infrastructure, and Environment)
  • Experience building and operating relational databases using MS Access.
  • Experience conducting statistical analyses using R, SPSS, SAS or another statistical packages.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, as evidenced by experience documenting field notes and report writing.
  • Experience conducting fieldwork on US military installations, working with military headquarters-level staff, and familiarity with DoD/Navy environmental regulations.
