Friends of Trees is looking for an energetic and dedicated individual to join our Green Space Program. Our Green Space Specialist will be part of a team that manages 70 volunteer events over the course of a season–educating a diverse population of community members about planting and caring for trees while restoring urban natural areas. *Key activities:*
*Forms effective partnerships to plan and implement restoration projects.
*Initiates and conducts planting and maintenance projects.
*Implements education projects with school-aged children (K-12).
*Initiates and conducts site preparation and maintenance activities.
*Coordinates and oversees weekend Green Space plantings.
*Maintains data on plantings and survival rates.
*Participates in efforts to raise funds for FOT and manage active program grants.
*Orients, trains, and supervises volunteers.
*Coordinates and staffs outreach events to recruit volunteers and educate public on projects.
*Loads and drives trucks to sites throughout the Portland and Salem Metro areas.
*Hours: *Tuesday ? Saturday during planting season (Oct-May); Monday ?
Friday rest of year (June-Sept). Fairly flexible within that framework, establishes schedule and makes changes known
*Office Location: *3117 NE Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Portland, OR 97212. Close to TriMet Bus #6, we have a secured bike area, and we provide transportation to work field sites.
