Job Outline: The Operations Director will be responsible for all technical processes at Adamah, and is responsible for ensuring that Adamah’s recomposition process operates smoothly and efficiently. The Operations Director will report directly to the CEO, with direct responsibility for the recomposition team. Because this is a brand-new process, the Operations Director will constantly be working to streamline and improve our recomposition systems.

Key Attributes: Qualified candidates will be curious risk takers, always trying to figure out how to tweak processes to make them better. They’re comfortable with machinery and technical systems, and are excited at the idea of doing something new. The right candidate is comfortable using data to improve performance, and capable of communicating this information both to their team, and to senior management. Exceptional attention to quality, detail and deadlines is required.
Physical Requirements: This work requires frequent lifting and moving of equipment, materials, and operating a front-end loader, forklift, and a variety of heavy machinery. Manual dexterity to safely operate equipment and tools is required.
Qualifications:
– BA or higher in biology, chemistry, environmental science, agriculture, or similar field. In special circumstances, extensive related work experience is acceptable in lieu of a degree.
– Experience working with mechanical systems, preferably agriculture/compost related
– Knowledge of compost planning and system implementation a strong plus
– Proven supervisory experience a strong plus
– Intermediate level computer skills in Microsoft Office applications and ability to learn computer systems specific to our industry
– Ability to operate heavy equipment, and supervise others doing the same.
– Independent thinker and manager, able to work with minimal supervision
– Creative problem-solver, able to troubleshoot and make quick, often on-thespot decisions
Role and Responsibilities:
– Contribute to the vision, mission and strategy development for all current and future composting operations
– Collaborate with senior leadership to create composting processes and policies, aligned with Adamah’s business goals
– Ensure key performance indicators for department are met and develop best practices to maximize potential.
– Manage compost budget and ensure appropriate cost controls are in place
– Address any issues pertaining to composting or organic waste management as well as the health and safety of employees
– Ensure that all workers adhere to policies & procedures
– Foster a culture of continual improvement
– Foster a culture of respect and collaborative teamwork
Salary and Benefits: Salary will range from $75-90k depending on qualifications and experience. Vacation time and health insurance will also be provided.
