BOTANY/ECOLOGY POSITION

SUMMER 2011

Are you a student interested in a field position in northeastern Washington for the summer of 2011?  The USDA Forest Service, Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest has several ongoing projects for which we need some motivated students to help us complete vegetation studies.  These include establishment of vegetation monitoring sites on old grazing condition and trend sites; streambank monitoring; and long-term sensitive plant monitoring in mountain meadows.  Work will begin in June and end in September.

Qualifications:

  • ½  to full time student in good standing with plans to continue education in Fall 2010.
  • Plant taxonomy, plant ecology, or natural resource coursework or experience preferred
  • Ability to work outside in diverse field settings with rugged terrain in all kinds of weather
  • Willing to travel in eastern Washington to various field sites with overnight stays possible
  • Willing to work various schedules as needed to meet project goals
  • Have a valid driver’s license

Compensation:

  • Salary based on experience and education ($10.95-$15.00/hr)
  • Per Diem provided while in travel status
