Location:   Wallowa Fish Hatchery – Enterprise, Oregon   

 

Job Title:  Fish and Wildlife Technician (Hatchery Technician)

 

 

 

 

Duration:  Two positions   –   8 months (February 1, 2012 to September 30, 2012) 

                                               6 months (February 16, 2012 to August 14, 2012)

 

Housing:  Single Occupancy Apartment Provided – No Rental Fees

 

 

Job Description:  Employees in these positions will care for fish, perform grounds and equipment 

                            maintenance and other fish hatchery duties.

 

Purpose:  

 

Wallowa Hatchery is a program designed to mitigate for summer steelhead losses caused by the four federal dams on the lower Snake River. It is used for adult collection, spawning, acclimation and release of summer steelhead.  The two satellite facilities (Big Canyon and Little Sheep Creek) are used to trap adult summer steelhead and acclimate smolts prior to release.  Wallowa Hatchery also produces legal-size triploid rainbow trout, which provides sport fishing opportunities in northeastern Oregon lakes and reservoirs.
