SUMMARY: 
This position serves as an integral part in 501 Commons’ Financial Services program, an expanding program of the organization. The Program Associate will be responsible for delivering varying complexities of the highest quality bookkeeping services to small and medium sized nonprofits in the Puget Sound area.

Program Associates are assigned to clients by the Financial Services Manager, who monitors performance and provides general support to bookkeepers. All Program Associates will have regular access to an experienced CPA who can assist with challenging problems and answer difficult questions.

This is initially a part-time position with the opportunity to increase to full-time depending on client volume and with the mutual agreement of the Program Associate and the Financial Services Manager. Work is performed through a combination of at client site visits and virtually depending on the particular client needs and relationship. Each Associate will have between 5 and 10 regular clients to deliver the best service and foster quality relationships.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide basic to full-charge bookkeeping to a range of nonprofit clients
• Deliver services above and beyond industry standards while limiting 501 Commons’ risk exposure
• Proactively communicate with assigned clients and Financial Services Manager
• Assure compliance of client organizations with tax and reporting requirements
• Attend bookkeeper meetings and or trainings as necessary
• Support the greater mission of 501 Commons

QUALIFICATIONS

Evidence of the individual’s ability to be successful in this position would include the following:
• 2-3 years of bookkeeping experience with nonprofit organizations
• Expert knowledge of QuickBooks 2009 or later and Excel 2007 or later
• Experience managing and processing payroll including tax withholding and reporting
• Intermediate knowledge of accounting concepts
• Ability to self-manage multiple client-demands and fluctuating work load
• Ability to identify and appropriately respond to “warning signs” with clients
• A history of stable employment, low absenteeism, and achievement in personal endeavors as well as in the workplace
• Access to reliable transportation
