Position Summary
The Green Seattle Partnership is a unique partnership between the City of Seattle, Forterra, and all the residents of Seattle. The Partnership has a vision of a city with diverse, invasive-free, sustainable forested parklands. It is a vision where Seattle’s urban forest will be supported by an aware and engaged community in which individuals, neighborhoods, nonprofits, businesses, and City government work together to protect and maintain this resource. Over a 20-year period, the partnership seeks to:
- restore 2,500 acres of forested parkland in the City of Seattle;
- create an informed, involved, and active community of citizens, City staff, educators, business leaders, and conservationists; and
- ensure the sustainability of our forested parklands through proper long-term maintenance and community stewardship.
The Green Seattle Day Intern will work with Forterra’s Green Seattle Partnership staff to plan, recruit for, and execute a succesful Green Seattle Day on November 3, 2012. Green Seattle Day is a coordinated restoration effort during which Green Seattle Partnership parks throughout the City simultaneously host restoration events. This position will support the logistical planning, advertising, and communication for Green Seattle Day. Tasks may include:
- ordering promotional materials
- fielding volunteer inquiries
- coordinating giveaways for the various restoration sites
- publicizing the event
