BOEM is seeking an expert wildlife biologist or ecologist to work in the Environmental Sciences Management Section (ESMS) of the Office of Environment-Alaska Outer Continental Shelf Region. To be successful in this position, you must have a detailed knowledge of marine and coastal wildlife resources and ecosystems, including marine mammals and protected species and you must have experience in developing and designing studies to assess marine species, preferably throughout the Alaska Region of the OCS. Other useful experience includes: assessing oil and gas activities in relation to the protection of marine and coastal wildlife resources and ecosystems; establishing methods, techniques, and procedures used in data collection; synthesizing information for release in publications; conducting collegial communication to foster interdisciplinary approaches to applied science; contract management of environmental studies; understanding of environmental laws associated with protected species; and fulfilling advisory duties of scientific work for decision makers.
