In the model of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE), the activities we do in Girl Scouts and the way that we do them (processes) result in outcomes that empower girls to become leaders.
Girl Scouts of Western Washington is seeking an advocate of Girl Scouts in the Cowlitz and Lewis County area to join the Community Development team as a Membership Recruitment Coordinator. This individual will present the benefits of Girl Scouting at recruiting events held at schools, community centers and libraries in communities that include Chehalis, Cowlitz, Longview and Kelso. This is a part-time, temporary position that would last from about October thru November. The work schedule will vary depending on the number of recruiting events, but would typically be between 10-15 hours per week. Recruiting events are typically held between the hours of 5pm to 7pm, Monday and Thursday, with an occasional Saturday event. Mileage is reimbursed.

Essential Functions:
Plan and implement recruitment events, including events aimed at recruiting adults to volunteer as Girl Scout leaders or other key leadership positions.
Assist with contacting schools to secure authorization for materials distribution; facilitate the printing and distribution of school recruitment flyers, reminder bracelets and other recruitment materials.
Confidently present to diverse groups the essence of Girl Scouts and the specifics of volunteering with Girl Scouts.
Assist with the preparation and distribution of recruitment and training boxes to volunteers so they are ready and available for events and activities.
Co-organize and facilitate recruitment in specified locations, including managing volunteers and Girl Scout troops assisting with event. Conduct day, evening and weekend recruitment events for girls and adults in schools and other locations. Communicate progress, successes, and challenges regularly with Community Development Manager.
In addition to the above, perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
* Good persuasive, public speaking skills
* Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize deadlines
* Knowledge of youth development and the Girl Scout program required
* Proficient in Word and Access or other database system
* Availability to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends
* Experience in public relations, marketing or sales preferred
* Strong interpersonal skills to ensure effective interactions with individuals at all levels and backgrounds
* Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
* Valid driver’s license, vehicle in working condition, proof of insurance, and the ability to fulfill timely and extensive travel requirements across widespread regional geography (Cowlitz County)
* Maintain membership in Girl Scouts
* Satisfactory results from criminal background search
