Native and Cultivated Geographic Ranges
Native to Japan, the Pacific Oyster now lives in 17 different countries. Versatile, The oyster can easily adapt to a variety to environments in temperate waters of the Pacific and Atlantic. In the United States, the Pacific grows on both coasts but heavily dominates all of theĀ Washington state coastline. There are especially high numbers through Puget Sound and the Columbia River. There are also populations along California, Oregon, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, and Alaska.
