NAMPA, Idaho – Competing in her second indoor track and field meet of the year, junior Karissa Carlson (Pateros, Wash./Pateros HS) met her second B-Cut of the young season, this time in the mile run at the Bronco Open on Saturday at the Idaho Center in Nampa, Idaho.

Carlson took fourth place in the race with a time 5:12.24, finishing just 63-hundredths of a second ahead of Shea Hanson of host Boise State.  Carlson was exactly one-half second behind fellow Cascade Conference harrier Hillary Holt on College of Idaho and about eight seconds back of winner Jaclyn Puga of Northwest Nazarene.

The time was less than a second off the automatic qualifying time for the 2011 NAIA National Championship.  According to TFRRS, her time ranks 12th nationally in the event and she is the 19th runner this year to meet a qualifying mark.

Carlson and the rest of the Geoducks will be back in action on Feb. 13 when they head up I-5 to Seattle for the UW Indoor Open at Dempsey Indoor.
