SEATTLE, Wash. – Running in her third indoor meet of the season, junior Karissa Carlson (Pateros, Wash./Pateros HS) earned her ticket to the 2011 NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships, winning her heat of the 800m run with an automatic-qualifying time on Sunday at the Husky Open at Dempsey Indoor in Seattle, Wash.
Carlson finished the race in 2:17.35, over a second faster than the automatic qualifying time, to win her heat. Her time placed her ninth overall. Unattached runner Amy-Eloise Neale posted the top time with a mark of 2:13.32.
In addition to her now automatic time in the 800m run, Carlson has also posted a provisional qualifying time in the mile last week at the Bronco Open in Nampa, Idaho.
