SEATTLE, Wash. – Competing in the first indoor meet of 2011, junior Karissa Carlson (Pateros, Wash./Pateros HS) earned a NAIA Indoor Track and Field provisional qualifying mark in the 800m run at the 2011 UW Indoor Preview Meet on Saturday afternoon at Dempsey Indoor in Seattle, Wash.
Carlson took third in her section of the event, and seventh place overall, with a time of 2:19.17, nearly an entire second quicker than the NAIA “B” qualifying time. Her section was won by Amber Rozcicha of Portland State with a time of 2:17.55 while Maggie Vessey, running for New Balance, posted the top time of the day at 2:09.14.
Carlson and the remainder of the Geoducks will be back in action on January 30 for the annual Geoduck Gallop Half-Marathon. Evergreen’s next indoor meet will be on Feb. 13 for the UW Indoor Open in Seattle.
