Well the fact the film was horrible is well know, but there was a good message in the end. That the moment you think your everything you have already lost. You must be willing to continue to change your way and keep learning to be eternally whole.
The movie showed how full of himself Bruce was, how he thought he was the best and that no matter who got in front of him he would win the fight. Until the moment Wong Jack Man got him in the head lock in their fight, he thought he was invincible. That was when he knew he needed to keep learning. That he needed to expand his skills to another level. That he was the only thing wrong with his style, like Wong Jack Man said.
Steve MaKee was a major hole in this plot. As the only white guy in the film and the subject of the off key love story. some how he came out to be the hero in the story. Not sure if this was a underlying joke or another case of white roles dominating hollywood films. But the movie would have been better and more believable if a Chinese was cast in this roll. I get it was supposed to be Steve McQueen, but damn. Sure stuck a fork in this film. The little love story between him and the young girl was so off balance. He championed the roll of the white savior, instantly falling for the girl. Then coming up with the plan for the battle to save the girl.
The fight scene between Bruce and Wong Jack Man was cheesy, but atleast it was entertaining. The nods to the old school film, using the wire flying and the teleporting were the best parts of the whole film. Well and the Enter the Dragon nods, with the tiger fist scratching his abs.
If your looking for a good laugh and don’t care anything about the story line. This is a 1 outta 5. Don’t get your hopes up.
