Who is Nate D.?  He is a 39 year young returning Evergreen student.  He has traveled through time searching for a place to call home.  Growing up near the Canadian Border, in the small logging community of Acme, Washington, his love for the pacific northwest runs deep.  A lover of worn out flannel, screeching guitars, and cold wet mountain air.  He is a fan of the finer things life in the pacific northwest has to offer, coffee, campfires and the low rumble of American muscle cars.  Raised as an only child to earth conscious hippies on one side of his family, to an outlaw biker biological father on the other.  Nate, now living in Olympia has a grittiness about him that some feel is abrasive.  He loves to wrench on anything mechanical, and also has a insatiable love for playing in the dirt.  With a past life of a defiant punk rock party animal, setting his own path in the streets of Olympia, fighting the conforming norms of day to day life to “be himself”.  Running on fear and whiskey, like a top on an unknown path, Nate searched for his home.  Spending time up and down the west coast from Bellingham down into northern California. Nate’s love for dirt under his nails and good food in his belly comes full circle.  Falling in love with the farm life in northern California, living in the mountains high above the winding concrete of the 101, and loving the life of providing his own food.  His green thumb gene was passed down from his mother, has now spread from his thumb to the tips of his toes.  Blessing plants with love and compassion into those who ingest his produce.  He and his family, enjoy the spoils of hard working organic farmers, as well as from their own small corner garden on their rental lot in Olympia.  In Nate’s “old age” he has now mellowed out into a much quieter and loving human, now a parent and a loving husband of 12 years.  Wanting to run his own business, and work on his own land, Nate is aspiring to be a Sustainable Farm owner here in Washington.  Returning to Evergreen to finish his BA after 15 years, and to benefit from the nontraditional thought process encourage at the small state college in the woods.  Nate is a  Greener at heart, and lives by the school motto of “Let it all hangout”!
