Chantal Petkus, a 5-5 junior from West Richland, Wash., has been named the Red Lion “Libero of the Week”, as announced by the Cascade Collegiate Conference. The CCC leader in digs per game, Petkus registered 56 total digs in last weekend’s split with Corban and Northwest Christian. She had 38 digs in a 3-1 win over NCU and 18 in a loss to Corban. She averaged eight digs per set. Chantal also earned this same honor during the 2009 season. Congratulations to Chantal!
The Evergreen State volleyball team generated their best output this season, earning a four-set victory over visiting Northwest Christian University. After falling in the first set 16-25, the Geoducks took over the match, outhitting the Beacons the remainder of the contest.
The visiting Warriors from Corban University defeated the Geoducks Friday night to kick off the second round of Cascade Collegiate Conference volleyball action.
The Geoducks played host to the Hustling Owls of Oregon Tech on Saturday on the campus of The Evergreen State College. An emotional roller coaster of a day was in store for the home town faithful.
The Lady Geoducks travelled up to Kirkland, WA for their debut Cascade Conference season opener to take on Northwest Christian in a fierce, heart-wrenching battle. Evergreen drew first blood with Katie Mendoza's finish at 35:12, starting with a through-ball assist from Brianna Speed.
