Design #1: The Couch
Below are my designs for an ergonomic couch. All dimensions were found by averaging the 50th percentile measurements or both men and woman. The design flaw that I attempted to correct was the fact that all couches are too short to lean your head back comfortably. So I put in retractable headrests.
Couch Features:
- Holds 3-4 people
- Retractable head rests
- Single cushion
- Cushion zippers
- Velcro attached to cushion
- Frame made from hardwood plywood that has been screwed into place
- Comes in multiple materials (leather, microfiber, linen, cotton)
- Steel spring foundation
- Cushions made from wrapped Polyurethane foam with a density rating of 2.5

Design #2: The Reclining Chair
My second design was for a reclining chair. The design flaw that I found in the reclining chair was the fact that when you recline you are facing the ceiling. So I put in a movable headrest. The headrest cushion is attached to a piece of cloth that can go behind the chair if needed.
Reclining Chair Features:
- Cushion zippers
- Velcro attached to cushion
- Frame made from hardwood plywood that has been screwed into place
- Comes in multiple materials (leather, microfiber, linen, cotton)
- Steel spring foundation
- Cushions made from wrapped Polyurethane foam with a density rating of 2.5
- Adjustable headrest

Design #3: The Coffee Table
The third design is the Coffee Table. The design flaw that I attempted to fix was the fact that many people use a coffee table as a foot rest. So I made it so it comes with removable cushions. I also made a decision after critique to make the sides and corners out of some kind of soft cloth material. I didn’t realize how much of a hazard coffee tables were. I also didn’t make a top down view because I thought it was unnecessary.
Coffee Table Features:
- Storage Compartments
- Removable Cushions
- Solid Wood Frame
- Soft cloth siding and corners

Design #4: The Lamp
For this design I went for a more aesthetic approach since there isn’t much one can do when it comes to the ergonomics of the lamp. I decided to go along with my blocky designs and make a blocky lamp.
Lamp Features:
- 570 lx light bulbs
