This week, Kat and I cooked a completely wildcrafted meal described here. From her garden, Evergreen’s forest, and surrounding areas, Kat foraged delicious salad greens, asparagus, green onion, licorice fern, chocolate mint, wild carrots, morels, and so much more.

She also collected eggs from her friend’s yard chickens and prepared a delicious quiche. Finally, using rhubarb from her garden and honey from her cousin’s hives, she made a topping for her handmade crepes. It was a spectacular meal that cost $0 to make.

Kat is an experienced wildcrafter, and it was an incredible experience to eat the food she had crafted and then go with her as she showed us the different locations around campus from which one can find food. She also engaged us in a hypnosis practice to connect to the ancestry of the plants we had just consumed.

It was a holistic eating experience, and it was such an honor to cook with and learn from her. Plus, the food was absolutely delicious!
