Week 2 assignment 3 things that I do well.

Growing up I was introduced to music, my mother was a singer and my father was an amateur gospel music promoter. In addition, all of my siblings 7 of them where musically inclined in some form or another so it is natural for me to be an accomplished singer, song writer and I also play piano, organ, keyboards and percussions i.e. drums, bongos or congo’s. I made a very good living traveling and doing backup vocals and vocal coordination for some of the biggest names in musical entertainment.

In addition to my musical talents I am also a very good public speaker. Being no stranger to large crowds over the years I have developed a somewhat of an ability to resonate with the audience, as long as there is a mutual reason for being in a specific place at a specific time and in most cases that is the case. Growing up in church and participating in church plays, choir, various groups and so on it seemed that I was always the go to guy to introduce the song choice and in many cases lead the musical endeavor’s.

Also, it would seem I am a very good story teller. I have lots of nieces and nephews who would have birthday parties and small get together. On one occasion years ago I began telling a story to children at the party because they were getting bored with the entertainment that was provided. It was a huge hit, from then on I would always be requested to come up with a story to match the theme of the party. Many years later after having children and a family of my own he requests and mandate on my time to be the story teller intensified.

Week 2 assignment My experience in math

Since I have graduated from a 2-year degree college it is safe to assume that I have math experience. I like everyone else had math classes in elementary school. middle school and high school. Math for whatever reason was never my best subject. It seems a little odd because I don’t mind numbers or even having to use them on a day to day basis or in my job. However, it is not one of my strong suites or academic subjects. I have had jobs that required me to use math and loved the opportunity but balancing numbers and making proper and or appropriate connections and computations just never came easy to me. With the exception to my elementary school days where I learned the basics and foundation on which to build on, I struggled through most of my academic math. I love balancing books and doing very basic bookkeeping but anything beyond basics and there is a very real possibility that I am going have some serious difficulty. In my high school years, I was extremely lucky to have teachers who were very patient and tolerant of the hard time I was having grasping various concepts in math. In college I avoided college level math like the plague. Evergreen having a broader non-conforming style of teaching mathematics is one of the many reasons I decided to attend here. In my day to day life I use basic math but any real extensive use of math is pretty nonexistent.

Week 2 assignment My experience in drawing

I grew up with an appreciation of art of all types from music, sculpture, paintings and drawings. I have always had a desire to draw or be able to express myself in one of these mediums. However, my drawing experience is very limited. I have never been able to make any artistic drawings that was adorable to others in most cases it was unrecognizable, especially if I tried to be real expressive and venture into drawing something other than stick figures, grass or something that resembled landscape like the sun, mountains and on occasion water. I first attempted to draw in elementary school. I tried my hardest through-out my whole elementary school age to try and pick up tips from my class mates and even went as far as to check out drawing books from the school library. At one time or another I got slightly better but never anything substantial that rose to the level of what one might even remotely consider art. In middle school I took art as it was one of the required courses in order to progress to the next grade level. I once again attempted to draw something that would be at the very least acknowledgeable by others and convey how I felt or my attempt to invoke a positive reaction from those who would view it, once again epic fail. From that point on I sort of gave up on any artistic drawing ability that I hoped would manifest itself. I have not even attempted to draw anything at all in recent history. Perhaps this class can pull out potential to draw that I may have, if nothing else teach me some techniques I can attempt to employ.
